The Hagfors rural area links the farming country of Klarälven valley with the forest and waterways of Bergslagen region. The Hagfors area has been characterised by the forest and the iron industry for hundreds of years. The steel industry in the area started with small mills and workshop hammers in the early 17th century and has now grown into a world leading manufacturer of tool steel.
